Dealing With A Workshop

The first important thing is to choose the right workshop!

If you are planning to make a claim, it is recommended to use a panel workshop (chosen by Pacific & Orient Insurance)

But why? Well, Pacific & Orient Insurance has already taken the time to review and carefully select each panel workshop.

Also, I think it’s safe to say no insurer will keep any bad workshops on their panel list.

However, if you are planning to handle minor repairs on your own, well, then any workshop that you trust would be fine!

What happens to your car when it goes into the workshop?

Depending on the damages, it could go like this:

  1. First, they will itemise the repair and send an estimate to the insurance company. An independent adjuster will also be appointed to assess the damage in a report to the insurance company.
  2. Once approved, they’ll start by taking apart all damaged sections from the vehicle.
  3. They could also remove dents through hammering… no joke, with a hammer and all.

But where there is low tech, there is also a bit of high tech too… on to electrostatic spray guns!

Seen this before?

4. These new or fixed car parts are then negatively charged so that the positively charged paint particles will give your car a beautiful and even coating at even the hard-to-reach areas (such as car’s corners and edges).

5. Special ovens are also used to strengthen the paint coating – which will improve the scratch and chip resistance!

Warning: Not for human consumption!

6. Completed parts are then installed back into your vehicle (a.k.a. time to pick up your car!)

Don’t be tricked ya

It is known for some workshops to install 2nd hand parts or worse, charge you without even replacing the parts.

Refer to the bill or itemised list of replaced parts while checking your vehicle!!

It is known for some workshops to add unnecessary items or worse, charge you for a made up service.

Note down any odd services or items for your own ‘Google-ling’, so you know which workshop you can trust!!

It is known for some workshops to try and install older tyres, especially ones that are a few years old.

As the rubber in the tyres deteriorate over time, it will affect your car’s grip and safety! It’s always good to check your tyres!!
